Robin is an occupational physician and the President of the Society of Occupational Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, mainly concerned with promoting health in the working age population, he supports leadership development across the UK health sector.

Having spent 5 years as a GP in the NHS, Robin then spent over twenty years in increasingly senior medical management roles in Defense, including three years leading the medical support to NATO operations, and two years as Head of Medical Strategy and Policy at the MOD until he left the military in Dec 2013.

In addition to consultancy engagements and teaching one or two-day leadership courses, Robin was appointed as part time deputy medical director for the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) in Nov 2013. His particular responsibilities include accreditation and standards of medical leadership and management, revalidation and appraisal. He is the author of the FMLM specialty guidance on appraisal of the leadership and management aspects of a doctor’s practice.

In May 2013 Robin was appointed to the Board of Corporate Health, as a Trustee of this long established charity, elected Chairman in Jan 2014. He redefined Corporate Health’s vision and its Charitable Objects, and through clarity of direction, putting the right Executive team in place and effective governance by the Board, turned the Charity around from decline to surplus and growth.

Other pro bono work includes advice on the health of veterans as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the British Members’ Council of the World Veterans Federation, and Robin is also a Trustee of the Soldiering On awards
